Subject 0058 : Design Concept
about.
"Subject 0058" is a conceptual poster exploring digital identity and the paradox of surveillance in the modern age. The design captures a moment where a vibrant, human subject is being processed and categorized by an unseen, algorithmic force.
Design Process & Techniques.
Image Selection & Cropping: The project began with choosing a dynamic, high-energy photograph to establish a clear focal point and powerful, engaging pose.
Background Manipulation: A high-contrast, text-heavy background was created, and heavy distortion, including ripple effect, was applied to generate a sense of digital chaos and motion.
Visual Overlays (UI Elements): Custom-designed, clean red and white User Interface (UI) graphics and text elements were added to simulate a computer vision or surveillance system. This included the scanning boxes, "Processing data..." progress bars, and the Subject identifier, creating a striking contrast between the clean digital structure and the organic, distorted body.
Glitch/Texture Application: Specific displacement maps and texture overlays were applied across the overall image, focusing on the subject’s clothing and the text. This action enhanced the cybernetic/glitch aesthetic and unified all design elements into one cohesive, stylized piece.
Typography: I utilized Haettenschweiler for the main headlines and Kernel Panic NBP to balance the modern futuristic feel with a retro one.
Skills Demonstrated.
